Presque Isle Downs Selections October 1st 2017


Race One:

1st: (2) ERIN’S WISH – Just missed two starts back here going 5 ½ furlongs in fast time then she came back at 6 ½ furlongs with the identical result. She can save ground from post one and try to get lucky in the drive with Addiel Ayala who wins 13% with his sprinters.

2nd: (9) HENIN – Horse for the course won going gate to wire at a mile against one level cheaper then showed some late kick the last two starts against similar company including a close second eleven days ago at this distance. Mario Pino rides back – 21% with his sprinters.

3rd: (8) SARA THE GREAT – Beat better two starts back then aced evenly here against these as the 4 to 5 favorite with no visible excuse.


Race Two:

1st: (11) STEVEDORE – Rallied from far back to miss by a head after being shuffled back from post one in his well-bet career debut and moves up in class for Jeff Radosevich who wins 31% with this maiden move and 29% with his overall maiden special weight starters.

2nd: (5) OUZO – First-time starter from Lance Stokes who wins 18% with his debut runners and 12% when they debut against this maiden level. He has been training extremely well with three, six-furlong breezes over the track here & gets Ron Allen, Jr. – 18% with his sprinters.

3rd: (7) CAPTAIN MAD JACK – Was a good 3rd against this maiden level then just missed against state-breds. He adds Lasix & Gallardo.


Race Three:

1st: (3) LILY’S SECRET – Showed high speed two starts back when she gunned to the front and almost held on then she dropped down to this class level and just missed again. She adds blinkers today and always seems to run well here. Willie Martinez rides back.

2nd: (8) SACRED SEASON – Has run well in all three starts on Tapeta. She was a good second here last year against allowance foes then she rallied from way back to miss by a length two starts back. Last out, she tired when used hard from post ten & drops down in class her.

3rd: (5) ALGIER’S POINT – Broke her maiden on dirt at Monmouth Park last year. She raced evenly here off a long layoff against better.


Race Four:

1st: (7) STORMY HIGHWAY – Broke her maiden at long odds on the dirt at Finger Lakes then came back here and was a game third after showing good speed against this optional claiming level. He adds blinkers today and gets Andre Worrie who wins 14% going long.

2nd: (1) UNCLE ARCHIE – Broke his maiden here first time out then came back two starts later with a good second behind next-out winner going two turns for the first time. He showed good speed in a six-furlong sprint last out for Tim Girten who wins 22% going short to long.

3rd: (2) VIRTUE AND VICE – Broke his maiden going six furlongs then came back the last two starts and raced evenly going long.


Race Five:

1st: (7) GREAT – Took him nine starts to break his maiden which he did going two turns then he came back here in a long sprint and won again. Joe Martin wins 17% with first start after a win and 13% with his synthetic track starters. Pablo Morales rides back.

2nd: (6) RICHIESINTHEHOUSE – Speedball tried synthetic tracks once & he held on for second in a stakes race at Arlington Park. He tired last out on the turf back there and now tries Tapeta for Larry Rivelli who wins 29% with his allowance runners and 16% going long to short.

3rd: (8) BUGLE BARRY – Broke his maiden by five lengths when lasix was added then he came back & beat allowance runners next out.
