Presque Isle Downs Selections 08-14-2017

Race One:

1st: (2) GENUWINE – Only poor race in her first four was against stakes foes on the dirt at Churchill Downs on a sloppy track. She came back and missed by a head next out here then weakened late as the 4 to 5 favorite for Wayne Rice who wins 7% first time going long.

2nd: (1) IMAGINABLE – Rallied to get up for second in her well-bet career debut going 5 furlongs here then raced evenly going 4 ½ furlongs. She added Lasix last out & improved some and the daughter of GIANT’S CAUSEWAY is a half-sister to a grade 3 stakes winner.

3rd: (4) KINKY – Woke up two starts back going six furlongs then was a good third here going two turns against male company.

 

Race Two:

1st: (6) ARROGANT – Only try against this claiming level was going two turns then he raced evenly the next two starts here against better. Joe Martin wins 14% with his overall claimers and 13% with his sprint starters. Pablo Morales rides – 25% riding for Martin.

2nd: (9) YOUR ALL THAT – Horse for the course has won four times here and he ran well the one time he tried this distance. His last start was an even fourth against this claiming level going six furlongs in fast time for Richard Beattie, Jr. who wins 18% with his sprinters.

3rd: (7) EXPLORE – Was claimed for this price three starts back and raced evenly when moved up in class.

 

Race Three:

1st: (3) PINK FOR ME – Made her Tapeta debut three starts back with a good third behind a next-out winner then just missed two starts later going this distance for Gerry Brooks who wins 23% with his all-weather starters and 17% sprinting. Luis Garcia rides back.

2nd: (2) PINK RUBANS – Winless in ten starts here on the Tapeta but she ran faster than par for this group. She was a good second two starts back and then showed good speed before weakening last out going shorter for Burton Sipp who wins 9% with his sprinters.

3rd: (8) COWGIRLS PRAY – Speedball breaking from the outside for Glenn Wismer who wins 29% with Addiel Ayala.

 

Race Four:

1st: (8) FIRST AND GOAL – Was an even fourth going six furlongs here then raced evenly again when stretched out to two turns. He tries it again but this time with Lasix added. Son of FIRST DUDE is out of a dam by TACTICAL ADVANTAGE that won four times.

2nd: (2) SLANTED TRUTH – Added blinkers second time out and showed a little improvement then tired going 6 furlongs last out. He stretches out to 2 turns with Lasix added for the first time by Tim Hamm who wins 19% with this distance shift and going long off 2 sprints.

3rd: (7) LEOPOLD – Made up some ground in his well-bet career debut at 9 to 5 going two turns but has to overcome a wide draw here.

 

Race Five:

1st: (4) FOREVER BERNARDINI – Raced evenly here 2 starts back against allowance foes then dropped down to claimers last out & missed as the 7 to 5 favorite. Son of BERNARDINI takes another drop in class for Mike Trombetta who wins 25% changing surfaces.

2nd: (5) ENVIOUS BID – Horse for the course beat claimers the last time he faced them and comes in here off three starts against allowance foes. Belinda Whitson wins 11% with her claiming starters and here last 55 show a flat-bet profit.

3rd: (1) GREATEST GAME – Beat cheaper two starts back and then was a good third against these in his first start off the game.
